Brass Polishing & Lacquer

We offer a full restoration service on Brass, Copper and non-ferrous materials. Old tarnished materials can be re-polished by our highly skilled polishers and then lacquered using ships lacquer. As the name suggests this is a heigh-quality lacquer designed to protect in all weather conditions.

Please look under our services section Brass polishing & lacquering and you will see a range of everyday items that we restore for customers ranging from door furniture and household things to military items such as this navel shell shown in this project.

We apply the lacquer with camel hair brushes which is a traditional method. Impurities and imperfections are common with this process, but it will reduce the need for cleaning and preserve the finish for much longer.

The Brass Polishing & Lacquer Process

Tap Restoration Step 1

The first and most important stage in restoring the metalwork is the polishing. This is a highly skilled and dangerous job. The polisher must keep all the shape and detail in the items he is polishing and produce the best finish he can obtain from the materials.

Tap Restoration Step 2

After polishing the items are inspected and cleaned ready for the lacquering process. The finished items are brushed lacquered with a ships grade lacquer and left for 24 – 48 hours to cure.
