Chrome Grille Restored

Grille matrix start life as individual pieces polished and plated separately and then assembled on a production line. To restore the matrix to its factory condition we needed to dismantle it into individual pieces.

This is a time-consuming process, but the end result speaks for itself,  if you were to compare this to one that has been restored as one there is no comparison.

The Grille Matrix restoration Process

Tap Restoration Step 1

The grille matrix is stripped to remove all pre-existing layers of chrome ready to be dismantled.

Tap Restoration Step 2

The grille matrix is made up of a series of louvres spot welded to a frame. Each louvre is numbered and a diagram made to show the position of the louvre for reassembly.

Tap Restoration Step 3

Once dismantled the louvres are inspected and checked before polishing and plating.

Tap Restoration Step 4

Quite often louvres are found to be bent or damaged and each section is straightened under a press with special tooling. If we do not have the tooling for your model we make the tooling to suit.

Tap Restoration Step 5

Once the louvres have been straightened, polished and plated they are re-assembled into there carriers.

Tap Restoration Step 5

This is the grille matrix we restored for one of our Belgium customers who kindly dropped in to see us on his way to Goodwood.
